Experience God's Power
Live a resurrected life today when you turn to the One who offers hope, strength, and comfort for your every need. The Bible promises that those who hope in the Lord will have renewed strength.
When we invite Jesus into our heart we are equipped with the power of the Holy Spirit living in us. There is power demonstrated by Jesus Christ who rose from the dead. He gives us the gift of the Holy Spirit to live a resurrected life here on earth and into eternity. That power comes when we humbly accept God's word, we obey His word, and we claim the power of Jesus name.
The power of the name of Jesus was shared with me by a woman I met named Elaine. She had returned home weak, vulnerable, and a mere one hundred pounds after undergoing a hysterectomy. Her husband took their two boys to the park leaving Elaine home alone for a couple hours to recuperate.
Upstairs Elaine rested until she sensed an evil presence in her home. After praying and reading Oswald Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest, she made her way to the kitchen. There she met her assailant, a large man who attacked her by gripping her neck with both hands.
Boldness overcame Elaine as she claimed the power of Jesus. She commanded, "Let go of me in the name of Jesus!"
Immediately the man fell back as if pushed away from Elaine. The determined man came after her again putting his large hands around her neck. Protected, by what could only be God's power, Elaine did not feel the man's hands around her neck. She continued to call out on the name of Jesus to leave her alone. Again, the huge man fell back.
This time Elaine said, "In the name of Jesus leave my house!"
At a loss for words her assailant agreed to leave on one condition. He asked her to not call the police. Elaine agreed and the man left. She kept her promise and never saw him again.
Imagine what happened to the heart and mind of this potential rapist. He experienced the power of God demonstrated through this petite woman calling on the name of Jesus.
We can only hope and pray in Jesus name that he repented and became a follower of his powerful God.
There is power in the name of Jesus. God will give us power when we believe in Jesus, invite him into our heart to reign, and claim his promises. The Bible promises that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
I asked a Christian self-defense instructor, "Do you ever teach people to call on the name of Jesus?"
He said, "yes." He then shared a story that happened to one of his students. A man broke into a woman's condo through an open window. When she awoke she found her rapist on top of her. She shouted, "Help me Jesus! Help me Jesus!" She continued to call out for Jesus over and over. The intruder fled from the condo without harming her.
These two women were saved by using the name of Jesus and believing He would rescue them. Boldly call on the name of Jesus when in danger. Your rapist may think you're crazy. That's alright. Better to be protected by God than protect your image. Be a Jesus freak! It's worth it.
