Teen Pregnancy
Secretly she yearned for the love and attention of our parents. We both did. Our parents had turned their attention to other relationships through the divorce. Karen wanted the love of a family and she would have her baby in order to be loved and have someone to love.
Everyone in the family soon accepted that Karen was going to be a mother. My mother even became excited about the reality of having a precious grandchild.
Life changed dramatically for Karen as she raised her baby. She took responsibility and began working to help support her son as she lived at home and went to school.
When her son was five Karen married a man who provided some stabilit, but much like our father who was emotionally disconnected, relied on alcohol, and was unfaithful in their marriage. Karen had never healed from her past and therefore chose what felt comfortable, so the pattern of unhealthy behavior repeated.
Although Karen lost her childhood at an early age, she gained the blessing of making the right choice when it came to saving the life of her unborn child.
Two years later I chose abortion. For years I lived with the consequence of guilt and regret for taking the life of my first child. Thankfully Jesus paid the price of my sin on the cross. I am forgiven and set free from the bondage of that sin. I'm alive! And my baby is alive in heaven. Where one day I will see her.
I admire my sister for her courage to face her adversaries when she discovered her unplanned pregnancy. Many unwed girls never give their parents the opportunity to support and encourage them in their choice for life. Many abortion clinics will put fear into teens that parents will be angry, when most parents want to be part of the decision making process.
When the world said abortion was the best choice for my sister she stood her ground and insisted on giving life to her child. She raised her little boy into a wonderful responsible man. At twenty-eight years old he is a contributing member of society as a successful business owner with a family of his own. As a family we have been blessed by her son.
If you are pregnant there are options:
- Choose life over death.
- Get healing to deal with any past issues, so you can make better choices.
- Seek Godly counsel. Many Christian organizations will offer assistance, child rearing classes, and emotional support.
- Consider sacrificing nine quick months of your life to give a loving couple an opportunity to raise your precious child.
- Love your child by giving him a home with parents who love and adore him, that may be your home or another couple. Pray about your decision.
- Turn to Jesus who gave His life for you on a cross. He died for your sins and mine, then rose from the grave to conquer death. He is alive. He will guide you, protect you, and give you strength. Follow Him.

This is what the LORD says: Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of his oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the alien, the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place.
Psalm 51:14
Save me from bloodguilt, O God, the God who saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
Psalm 72:14
He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight.
Isaiah 59:3
For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt. Your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue mutters wicked things.
Psalm 25:5
guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
Psalm 42:11
Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
